CCC Incident Updates

Cybersecurity incident investigation update

During the investigation, the college worked to determine if there was unauthorized access to personal information. An exhaustive check found files with limited student data mostly from the years 2013 to 2018. We are continuing our review and will notify those individuals directly if their personal information is involved in this incident. Please see the FAQs page for more information.

Cybersecurity incident background

On Jan. 19, 2024, Clackamas Community College was made aware of a cybersecurity attack at the college. We swiftly responded to secure the college’s servers and online services. CCC promptly notified law enforcement and continues to work collaboratively on investigating the incident.  At this time, we do not know if the incident resulted in unauthorized access to personal information, but we ensure individuals will be notified as appropriate.

Our ITS team has been working around the clock to secure and restore systems as quickly and as safely as possible so we can return to normal operations. At the same time, a number of departments including  financial aid, human resources, and student services are working to implement alternative processes and services, and we remain focused on returning to normal operations.

In parallel, instructional departments have met to discuss how best to approach our resumption of classes, including how to meet course and program learning outcomes without overburdening students. Instructors are working to extend to students time, flexibility and grace.

We ask for your patience and understanding as we work diligently to address this incident.
